We are seeking:
- a non-binary or transgender identifying performer for new part verbatim, part spoken word play exploring mental health.
I AM is developed with ovalhouse, show dates 20-22 Jun.
ABOUT THE SHOW
I decided in choice.
I decided in opportunity.
I decided in me.
A love story. A coming out party. A conversation.
Blending verbatim with spoken word, I AM explores mental health, sexuality and gender. How do LGBTQ+ bodies fit in to a world our minds also battle to exist in?
I AM is written by queer write and performer Saffia Kavaz. The play is part constructed from interviews with LGBTQ+ identifying people with experiences of mental health issues.
The show is written upon conversations from 8 voices, all of which merge and are performed by 2 actors. There are no set 'characters' within the story, however a large part of the performers role is verbatim. No experience of previously performing verbatim theatre is necessary. The piece will be playful and incorporate movement and sound, therefore we are preferably seeking a performer or actor with some experience of devised theatre.
Email a professional or non-professional headshot of yourself alongside any links to your work (Spotlight, videos, website). If you do not have links to your work you can also send your CV or up to 100 words on why you are interested in the role.
