PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND ONLY SUBMIT IF SUITABLE

CASTING - BINAURAL DINNER DATE

We are looking for a male performer to be our new W.

'W is a Waiter, waiting for his love.
He helps others on their blind date
to break the ice to keep the conversation flowing
As he keeps an eye on the door…'

Binaural Dinner Date is an interactive experience for two strangers,
friends or partners inviting them to have a dinner date together.
Using binaural technology and live performance, participants undertake tasks and are asked increasingly probing questions, pushing social expectations about ‘acceptable’ dinner conversation. Binaural Dinner Date has been successfully performed in
partnership with Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2017, Rich Mix in 2019 and is now a touring production.
Binaural Dinner Date is the latest production from award-winning and internationally acclaimed ZU-UK. The company’s work has won awards and nominations in the fields of immersive theatre, hybrid art and interactive technology. Amongst their most acclaimed projects is Hotel Medea, considered a pioneer in the field of Immersive Theatre.
ZU-UK’s work has also been presented by Hayward Gallery, FACT Liverpool, LIFT Festival and The Lowry, Salford.

ROLE
The performer we are looking for must be able to be physically quick-witted and competent in task-based facilitation- looking after up to 9 tables of couples, staying in touch with the sound/tech person, keeping in contact with the Host, facilitating games, and looking out the window for his lost love. The role positions itself between actor and facilitator and games-master for interactive theatre.

Initially you would need to be available for a workshop audition and potentially seeing the show on tour in the autumn.

We are looking specifically for actors interested in physical training as a lot of our preparation for performances are rooted in physicality. We are a very hands-on theatre company and everyone is expected to pitch in with get-in/out and to be flexible and resourceful.
